A community park for all
Built by you!
Our goal is to transform the under-equipped playground space at Wolfville School into a vibrant community activity park, with modern play equipment, sports facilities, and landscaping that will provide fitness and fun for all Wolfville School students while also serving the broader community.
This is a parent-led initiative, and the majority of funding must come from local organizations, business, and individuals. The government and the Regional Centre for Education (school board) provide no funding for playground construction and renovation.
SUMMER 2019 UPDATE
Thanks to some successful fund-raising this past year, including $10,000 from the Aviva Community Fund, and donations from 100 Women Who Care Annapolis Valley, phase 2 construction will get underway this summer!
During the summer, we'll be installing new outdoor fitness equipment for older children and adults, and we'll also be working on playground landscaping. In the fall, we look forward to installing the first and largest piece of new play equipment, a large climbing structure with a slide and various other exterior elements, which is sure to be a hit with kids of all ages!
For phase 3, we are making plans to replace the current aging play structure with a new multi-activity structure and large spinner, plus double the number of swings! To reach this ultimate goal, we will be continuing our fundraising efforts in the coming months. The more funds we raise, the more we will be able to do! Join the Playground Team!
We are currently looking for a couple of new members to join the Playground Improvement Committee. Our biggest task this year will be fundraising, so we are looking particularly for parents and school staff who can help organize some fundraising events over the course of year. It is not a big commitment, but it will make an enormous difference for the school and for Wolfville in general.
If you are interested in helping, please contact the committee at email@example.com.
In 2017, we replaced the dirt field with a hard-surface futsal soccer court that is usable throughout most of the year for soccer and other sports and games.
The court is the first of its kind in Nova Scotia, and is used by students and community on a near daily basis!
The current, aging play structure will be replaced with modern equipment that provides a range of physical development activities for both younger and older children.
Plans include a rope climbing structure, large spinner, double the current number of swings and wheelchair accessible equipment and games with natural wood fibre surfaces under play structures.
Natural play and fitness structures will promote fitness and creative play, as well as provide areas for socializing and outdoor class activities.
Together with the landscape design, they will make the space more attractive and draw both community members and visitors.
SOMETHING FOR EVERYONE
More than just a playground —
the Wolfville School Activity Park will be a true community resource for sport, fitness, and fun!
